Kamloops Geotechnical Survey

Project type

Geotechnical

Date

April 2026

Location

Kamloops, BC

Interior Marine Construction Ltd. provided specialized marine construction support for the supplementary geotechnical investigation associated with the replacement of the Red Bridge across the South Thompson River in Kamloops, British Columbia. The investigation supplied critical subsurface information to support the engineering and design of the bridge's new foundations.

Working alongside the project team, IMC supplied and operated the floating work platform to safely access offshore borehole locations within the river channel. Our crew positioned and secured the barge to provide a stable drilling platform while maintaining a safe navigation channel throughout the investigation.

Operating within a sensitive aquatic environment, the project demanded careful planning and strict adherence to environmental protection measures. IMC supported the geotechnical program by implementing best management practices for marine operations, maintaining spill prevention measures, and working closely with qualified environmental and archaeological monitors to minimize impacts to the South Thompson River ecosystem.

The successful completion of the investigation provided engineers with the critical geotechnical data required to advance the design of the replacement Red Bridge while demonstrating IMC's ability to safely execute complex marine support operations in environmentally sensitive waterways.
